DeadlyScience is committed to providing the highest quality resources and educational programs to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students have the opportunities they need to thrive in the world of STEM.
Every child deserves the tools to succeed. DeadlyScience was founded in response to limited opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to engage with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
The Deadly STEM in Schools program will deliver engaging, hands-on STEM workshops to primary and secondary students across remote Queensland, with a specific focus on reaching First Nations communities.
With JVT’s support, more students will be able to engage the program’s in-school, culturally appropriate and curriculum aligned STEM education programs.
Rural, regional and remote schools are often under resourced. There are persistent disparities in STEM education and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. While Indigenous Australians have been practicing science for over 65,000 years, they remain significantly underrepresented in the modern STEM fields.
DeadlyScience and JVT believe that every child deserves the tools to succeed, regardless of their location. Deadly STEM in Schools preserves the legacy of the First Scientists of this land and building a brighter future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth.
By providing culturally relevant, engaging, and accessible STEM education, DeadlyScience aims to empower Indigenous students to succeed in STEM fields and contribute to a more equitable and inclusive STEM landscape in Australia.
This approach fosters cultural pride and empowers students to connect their own heritage with modern scientific principles, inspiring them to see themselves as future scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians.
Deadly STEM in Schools aligns with our mission and goals and meets our five criteria for support. It is:
Success for the Deadly STEM in Schools program in Queensland, means providing culturally relevant, engaging, and accessible STEM education to empower Indigenous students to contribute to a more equitable and inclusive STEM landscape in Australia.
DeadlyScience is a registered not for profit Indigenous charity working to empower Indigenous students in remote schools to discover science, technology, engineering and maths pathways through innovative programs. They want to build the next generation of Indigenous scientists, mathematicians, engineers and technologists.
