The John Villiers Outback Art Prize exhibition opens next month, showcasing the incredible talent of artists in outback communities, and their ability to share the story of the wonders of rural, regional and remote Australia.

This year there are both Adult and Emerging Youth categories with the theme ‘Outback: A Sense of Place’. It’s pleasing to see so many gifted young artists submit their work.

The John Villiers Trust (JVT) has supported the Waltzing Matilda Centre and the John Villiers Outback Art Prize since 2012 and is proud to help bring this iconic event to life.

This prize is part of JVT’s efforts to drive positive, long-lasting change in country Queensland communities through philanthropic giving and partnerships. JVT exists to help amplify the voices of country communities, so we are delighted to see those voices brought to life through the competition.

The works of the finalists will be on exhibition at the Outback Regional Gallery at the Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton from 11 March – 7 May 2023.
