Current JVT Director, Fiona Maxwell, is extending her commitment to JVT by becoming our next CEO.
Fiona’s first day as CEO is 12 May, and comes as we bid farewell to our current CEO, Lea-Anne Bradley, who has led the organisation for the past four-and-a-half years.
JVT Board Chair, Ian Galloway, said the Board considered Ms Maxwell to be a perfect choice to lead JVT into its next era.
“Fiona knows JVT exceptionally well through her time as a Director of the Board, and as such is very well placed to build on the excellent work of Lea-Anne, and continue the work of developing and driving our next five-year strategy,” Mr Galloway said.
“Not only does she have deep knowledge of JVT, but she also brings extensive experience in the philanthropy sector to the role, alongside strong links to country Queensland communities.”
Having been born in Townsville, and growing up in Winton, Mt Isa, and Cairns, Ms Maxwell has a genuine connection to and understanding of the issues and opportunities in rural, regional, and remote Queensland.
She also has a deep understanding of the philanthropic sector, with key highlights including:
· leading the Queensland office of a Federal Government initiative focused on growing philanthropy for the arts
· founding the Queensland office for Philanthropy Australia and early sector conversations about impact investing, and
· member of grantmaking panels for Sidney Myer Fund, government, and other trusts.
Fiona is currently the Chair of DVConnect, a state-wide crisis service for domestic violence; and Director – Community & Innovation for SecondBite | FareShare, leading innovation and First Nations programs.
Her work in regional Queensland includes co-design of place-based food relief in regional and remote communities, and working alongside First Nations leaders in developing community solutions.
“Since joining the Board in 2023, I have really enjoyed getting to know JVT and see first-hand the impact the organisation has on country Queensland,” Ms Maxwell said.
“I am looking forward to getting even closer to communities, grantees, partners, and other funders in the role of CEO, and I feel honoured to lead JVT into our next five-year strategy.”
We are looking forward to Fiona officially joining the JVT team as CEO soon!
